MANILA, Philippines — With grit, grace, and composure, Tarah Valencia made her mark on the international stage as she finished 3rd runner-up on the concluded Miss Supranational 2025, held on June 27 in Poland.

Valencia’s strong performance garnered praise from Filipinos, as she was the only delegate from Asia to advance to the Top 12 and Top 5, marking another splendid finish for the Philippines on the global stage. The 24-year-old Baguio native enthralled audiences from around the world not only with her beauty and presence but also with her determination, authenticity, cultural purpose, and powerful storytelling through her performance.

‘Kalabaw’: Strength of the land, spirit of the people
Valencia captured the spotlight as she walked wearing a national costume in homage to the Cordilleran farmers and the noble carabao—symbols of endurance, dignity, and the Filipino’s deep connection to the land.

The ensemble, designed by Emanuel Riñoza, was more than a visual spectacle—it was a living narrative. Its foundation featured a solihiya weaving pattern, paired with locally sourced Cordillera fabric that symbolized the interwoven stories of Filipino identity and craftsmanship. The look was enhanced by a voluminous hip silhouette, cone-bra bust, and a structured collar that highlighted the wearer’s form. A sculpted shoulder piece echoed the head of a kalabaw, while an elaborate headpiece combined Cordilleran beading, kalabaw horns, and a traditional salakot adorned with gold rhinestones and wood tassels. Every stitch honored the indigenous knowledge, labor, and cultural pride of the Filipino people.

The look went viral online, with pageant fans and Filipinos calling it one of the most meaningful costumes.

The heart beyond the evening gown
Wearing a striking gown by celebrated Filipino designer Rian Fernandez, she commanded the stage with elegance. The piece is draped in fluid hues reminiscent of the sea. Styled by Rick Sotelo and accentuated with Jewelmer accessories, the gown symbolized calm strength and quiet power.

In a post on her social media during the coronation night, Valencia reflected on the meaning behind her moment:

“Draped in the hues of the sea, I rise like the power of the wave—calm, powerful, and proud. Every step. Every glide. Every tear. Every sweat dropped. Every lesson learned and unlearned. And every one of you has brought me here,” she wrote. “Ako ay isang Pilipina at kinakagagalang ko nirepresenta kayong lahat sa entabladong ito. At kahit anong mangyari, uuwi akong taas noo dahil ang maging Pilipino ay karangalan na.”

A voice that resonates
During the Top 5 Question and Answer round, Valencia was asked: “Many young people today struggle with confidence and self-worth. What advice would you give them to help them embrace who they are?”

She answered:

“A lot of individuals would always bring you down—and I say this because I experienced it. But I was able to battle it by giving myself positive affirmations such as ‘I am worthy,’ ‘I am capable,’ and ‘I can do anything through my power and through my own voice.’ That’s what every individual should do to recognize their self-worth.”

Her answer, rooted in personal experience, resonated with many and underscored her message of empowerment and authenticity – it was a moment that encapsulated her strength and served as a voice of encouragement for others.

Valencia’s journey at Miss Supranational 2025 ended with a 3rd runner-up finish, and her message and the pride she brought to the Philippines will continue to echo far beyond the stage.
