W ith a degree in English from Cal Poly, Pomona, and as freelance automotive journalist with an extensive appreciation for American history, it seemed only natural for Ryan Lee Price to author a postcard book on Glendora.A 1991 graduate of Glendora High School, Price grew up in Glendora immersed in community involvement from Glendora's youth soccer league and the Boy Scouts to high school clubs, sports and other city functions. Recently, he was elected Vice President of the Glendora Historical Society. He volunteers time in the museum digitizing the photo archives and helping with the cataloging of its artifacts. In addition to his newly released book, Price contributes regularly to a blog that focuses on Glendora's rich history (http://glendorahistory.blogspot.com/). The book features numerous unseen and previously unpublished vintage postcards from public and private collections. It shows Glendora's progression and the handful of buildings and landmarks that still exist today. Postcards play a large role in determining what life was like at a certain time; postcards have helped map Glendora from its beginning through today. When not writing about cars or Glendora, Price enjoys restoring old Volkswagens, including his 1971 Super Beetle his father gave him when he was just 15-years old. Price was the editor of a magazine about classic Volkswagens and has written two books on its history. He is presently pursuing an architectural degree. Price currently lives in Corona, Ca. with his wife, Kara. He is a stay-at-home dad to their two children, Natalie (4) and Matthew (2), and their German Shepherd, Elsa. "My family moved to Glendora when I was three years old, and I lived in the same house until I got married 21 years later. Having grown up in Glendora, pride for my hometown was instilled in me |
