![]() T he antique streetlights that are along Glendora Avenue north of Foothill Boulevard, and include the Historic District, were established in 1911. An additional second system was installed in 1914.Several years ago, the 103 light poles were found to be not safe and turned off. An investigation into their repair found it to be quite an expense. The City Council gave the homeowners in the district a chance to vote for an assessment to refurbish them. It was voted down. A second vote of the homeowners was called for when the City Council agreed to spend up to $1 million dollars for refurbishing the fixtures if homeowners agreed to pay to maintain them and for the use of the energy. It too was voted down. According to Dave Davies, Public Works Director, there are no plans to remove the historic poles at this time. |
